Sir M. Venkatasubba Rao was born to do great things for the society. A brilliant academician, he enrolled as a Vakil in the year 1903. After a short period of practice,he was appointed as a Judge to The Madras High Court in the year 1921. This was a milestone in his career as he was the youngest person to be appointed to that role.
He was knighted in the year 1936 for his contribution as a judge to the legal system.
Sir M. Venkatasubba Rao’s marriage to Andalamma proved to bear fruitful results for the society at large. He was able to pursue his passion for social welfare and reform. Together with his wife, he founded The Madras Seva Sadan.
Sir M. Venkatasubba Rao was known for his quest for justice, and the consequential truth. His will and his non–conformity to the qualms of society were his defining qualities. A kind and generous gentlemen, he expected perfection in all forms. His magnanimity is apparent in the creation of The Madras Seva Sadan. He was a champion for women upliftment in the Indian society.
To commemorate Sir Mutha, The Madras Seva Sadan inaugurated The Sir M. Venkatasubba Rao Matriculation Higher Secondary School at T. Nagar in 1971.
